The doctoral service team from Central South University has stationed itself at Xinda Technology to tackle the research topic of "Precise Adaptation of Cutting Picks for Complex Geological Formations."

2025-07-23

On July 22, Zhuzhou Xinda Machinery Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Xinda Technology”) welcomed the arrival of the doctoral service team from Central South University’s “Zhihui Zaoyan·Technology for Industrial Development” technical guidance program. The two sides are jointly tackling the challenge of “intelligent matching and performance enhancement of cutting picks under complex operating conditions.” This collaboration represents an important step for Xinda Technology in its transition from traditional manufacturing to intelligent, highly customized solutions in the field of rock drilling tools.

Technical exchange

As a leading domestic manufacturer of cutting picks and Rock drilling tools (Rock drilling tools) manufacturer, Xinda Technology specializes in tool solutions for highly abrasive hard rock and complex geological formations.

Over the years, we have accumulated extensive experience in rock type identification, tool wear mechanisms, and material applications. However, in an era of refined customization—where each formation calls for a tailored formulation—we can no longer rely solely on engineering experience to meet the increasingly complex demands of projects.

Deep cooperation

Xinda Technology proactively initiated industry-academia-research collaboration with the doctoral service team from Central South University. Leveraging its solid theoretical foundation in areas such as geological engineering, artificial intelligence, and materials science, and drawing on our company’s extensive operational data and engineering case studies, we will jointly conduct research in the following areas:

Hard alloy cutting picks Wear Data Modeling and Intelligent Prediction

Rock Image Recognition and Rapid Stratigraphic Classification Based on the DeepSeek System

Life Assessment and Design Optimization of Rock-Drilling Components Under Complex Operating Conditions

Traceability of the Carbon Footprint and Feasibility Analysis for Remanufacturing of Retired Cutting Picks

“We have a deep understanding of rocks, but we’re also fully aware that achieving the transition from ‘fit-for-use’ to ‘intelligent matching’ will require support from a higher level of expertise.” — Liu Nengwen, Chairman of Xinda Technology

Currently, the doctoral team has moved into the company’s R&D center, testing areas, and selected collaborative construction sites, where they are “jointly conducting research” alongside technical personnel. Related algorithm modeling and rock database development have also been launched simultaneously, and we anticipate achieving preliminary results within the next few months.

Xinda Technology will also jointly establish the “Deep-Underground Intelligent Equipment Joint Laboratory” with Central South University, further advancing the development of high-performance, intelligent, and green manufacturing processes for rock-drilling tools. Through this collaboration, we are committed to upgrading ourselves from a “bit manufacturer” to a “provider of customized rock-drilling solutions for complex geological formations.”
