Tunneling Cutting Picks – Application Cases
Client Background
As a national-level major infrastructure project, the Dalian Bay Subsea Tunnel faced extreme dual challenges during construction.
From a geological perspective, the tunnel encountered complex formations composed of hard rock interbedded with quartz sandstone, with partial rock masses exhibiting uniaxial compressive strength (UCS) up to 100 MPa.
From an environmental perspective, the tunnel passes beneath a large petrochemical facility, with an overburden thickness of only 7 meters. Any excessive excavation disturbance could lead to severe safety consequences, placing unprecedented demands on excavation stability and cutter reliability.
