Tunneling Cutting Picks – Application Cases

Chongqing Water Diversion Tunnel

The tunnel passes through high-strength rock with no apparent fractures, featuring a uniaxial compressive strength (UCS) of up to 100 MPa and extremely high abrasiveness.

Under the original solution, excavation of 1 meter required dozens of cutting picks, resulting in extremely slow progress.

Customized Solution

Xinda’s technical team deployed the S135 Ultra-Wear-Resistant Cutting Picks specifically developed for hard and highly abrasive rock formations.

  • Equipped with premium φ35mm carbide tips
  • Incorporates patented materials and brazing technologies
  • Optimized to achieve an ideal balance between hardness and toughness
  • Designed for superior resistance to severe abrasive wear

The solution was applied directly on site for comparative testing.

Implementation Results

Wear Reduction:

In “grindstone” rock formations, after continuous excavation of 1.5 meters, only one cutting pick showed wear — a 95% reduction in pick consumption.

Efficiency Improvement:

Excavation efficiency increased by approximately 40%, significantly shortening the overall construction period.
